Life....

Life around here seems to never slow down, seems we go from one crisis to the next, though in reality none of them are really crisis. My back went out just over 2 weeks ago when I bent down to stick a patient. It took me about a week and half to get it better and then in the last 2 days (mon & tues) I have managed to re-aggravate it from over doing it, but we were really short after some call ins and I had to do what I had to do. The boy had his ears suctioned out last Thursday at the ENT's office and got put on yet another round of Antibiotics and Steroids and told that if it didn't look better in a week or so to come back. Well as of today we still have the thick yucky drainage that smells of infection. The tubes are not really keeping out any infection but are atleast allowing what is there to drain when we are keeping the outer ear canal clear from the drainage. It appears as if we will be making another trip to the ENT come next week if things don't look better by the beginning of next week. It doesn't really seem to bother Reed at all but I don't want him to keep infection/drainage all the time to the point it causes permanent hearing loss and problems with his speech.

Enough of the Debbie Downer news. In the past few weeks our little one has learned to give kisses with puckered lips and closed mouth and he even makes the "mmmmmwha" sound at the end of the kiss and then grins at you. He is into everything and always wants to be outside. I have a feeling our life this summer will be spent in the yard or the pool at Mimi's house (next door). He is trying to jump, has learned to climb and is full out running to get to places he knows he is not suppose to be. his vocabulary is expanding and he speaks in sentences sometimes now though you can rarely make out what he is saying. He did tell the doctor the other day "Let me see this" she couldn't believe it. He got his MMR shot so all we are lacking now is the varicella to be caught up on shots but I'm glad we decided to divide and conquer the shots because I believe they give our kids too many at once when we don't! He is up to a whopping 21 pounds and 29.5 inches tall. His head is still way bigger than the rest of him at 47 cm. 5th, 5th and 37th percentile respectively. We are still rear facing at this time but may consider going foward facing when he hits 18 months in June because of the summer heat here is MS and the fact the air does not get to him with him turned backwards. I really am apprehensive to turn him around but I think in the long run it will be what is best for him, he is already sweating buckets when i get him out now and we are only in may, the really hots months aren't until July, August and September!

That is really all that is going on around here, our life is so boring, but I'll take boring any day of the week if it means my baby is safe, healthy and providing us with lots of entertainment. He wants to always been the constant center of attention even when we are in a big group with other people!

May God bless you and keep you safe,
Becca
